"Why is aquatic exercise so beneficial for pregnant women?"

In addition to the overall benefit of exercise to your heart, lungs, muscles, and joints, water exercise has some special benefits for your pregnant body.

  • Cool Water helps keep your body temperature within safe limits while exercising
  • Buoyancy reduces joint stress and allows for a greater range of motion
  • Turbulence created by your body's movement through the water: massages your skin, improves circulation, and reduces tension and pain
  • Hydrostatic Pressure pushes against your pregnant body and: stabilizes muscles and joints, reduces or eliminates swelling (edema) in feet, ankles, and legs, reduces varicose veins

Thursday evenings, 6:45 - 8:15pm (1½ hours).

And/or consider joining Blossom Prenatal Yoga on Wednesday evenings or Blossom Prenatal Strength on Tuesday evenings!

Prenatal Aquafit Classes run in 8 week sessions:

  • Fall 1: September 9 - October 28
  • Fall 2: November 4 - December 23
  • Winter: January 13 - March 10 (no class Feb 24)
  • Spring: March 24 - May 12
  • Summer: June 2 - July 21

"Where?"

The Aquaplex at the Boys and Girls Club of London is a beautiful, new pool located at 184 Horton St., on the North side of Horton, just East of Richmond St.

Pregnancy Exercise - Pool

The Aquaplex pool is kept within the safe and recommended temperature range for prenatal exercise. The pool is also equipped with an entry/exit ramp to help you get into and out of the pool in comfort and safely.

"Cost?"

Prenatal Aquafit Classes run in 8 week sessions:

  • $100 / 8 week session (taxes included) Only $50 for YMCA Members
  • Payment is due on the first day of class
  • Payment is made in cash or cheque made payable to Marie Claire Bilyk
  • Fees are adjusted to accommodate your due date.
